What to know:
- NoOnes has announced that it is winding down its operations after more than three years of serving users.
- The company says it was unable to resolve the sanctions affecting its business, which resulted in lost partners and NoOnes-related wallets and transactions being classified as high risk by blockchain monitoring providers.
- The wind-down began on August 17, 2026, while the P2P marketplace is scheduled to close on August 21 at 11:59 p.m. UTC.
- After the P2P marketplace closes, NoOnes will transition to a withdrawal-only platform. The company recommends users withdraw their remaining funds no later than August 23.
NoOnes, an Africa-focused P2P platform, is winding down its cryptocurrency trading platform after sanctions disrupted its relationships with key partners and caused blockchain monitoring providers to flag NoOnes-related wallets and transactions as high risk.
The platform announced the decision after more than three years of operations and serving more than 2.5 million users. NoOnes said efforts to resolve the sanctions were unsuccessful, making it increasingly difficult to process transactions and maintain normal operations.
NoOnes begins shutdown
The wind-down started on August 17, with several services being closed during the week.
These include NoOnes Swap, the NoOnes Visa card, crypto off-ramps, the gift card store, Bitcoin Lightning Network, and partner programme payouts.
New account registrations have also been stopped. USDT withdrawals are being restricted to the TRON network, while regular Bitcoin network withdrawals remain available.
The P2P marketplace is scheduled to close at 11:59 p.m. UTC on August 21.
After that, NoOnes will operate as a withdrawal-only platform. Users will still be able to log in, view their balances, withdraw funds, and contact customer support, but trading and other platform services will no longer be available.
Sanctions created problems beyond NoOnes
NoOnes said the sanctions caused it to lose access to essential business partners. It also said blockchain monitoring providers began classifying NoOnes-related wallets and transactions as high risk.
That created another layer of difficulty. Transfers from NoOnes could be delayed, rejected, or subjected to additional compliance checks by external exchanges and other services.
The development shows how sanctions can affect crypto businesses indirectly. Even when a platform remains operational, restrictions imposed by banks, exchanges, payment providers and blockchain compliance companies can make it difficult to move funds and maintain normal services.
What NoOnes users need to know
NoOnes is advising customers to withdraw their funds as soon as possible and no later than August 23.
The platform currently lists:
- Bitcoin withdrawals through the Bitcoin network
- USDT withdrawals through TRC-20
NoOnes also warns that external exchanges and services may delay or reject transfers connected to its wallets. Users should therefore confirm that a receiving platform can accept a transaction before sending funds.
The company says support will remain available during the wind-down and withdrawal-only period.
Why this matters for Africa
NoOnes has been particularly relevant to emerging-market crypto users, where peer-to-peer platforms can provide an alternative route to buying and selling digital assets.
Its shutdown removes another major P2P marketplace from the ecosystem and highlights the regulatory risks facing crypto platforms that operate across multiple jurisdictions.
The case also demonstrates that crypto businesses remain dependent on the wider financial and compliance system. Sanctions and risk classifications can affect exchanges, wallets, and payment infrastructure even when transactions take place on public blockchains.
For NoOnes users, however, the immediate priority is simpler: complete any remaining trades before the P2P marketplace closes and withdraw funds before the August 23 deadline.
